R. G. FOGG (GORDON) Robert Gordon Fogg, 83, of Winnipeg passed away August 7, 2010 at his cottage in Echo Bay, Lake of the Woods. Gordon was born on May 17, 1927 to the late Robert and Grace Eleanor Fogg of Winnipeg. Gordon is survived by his wife Audrey, of 57 years and their five children James, Valerie (Wayne), Susan (Rex), Robert and Andy (Melanie). Beloved grandchildren are Verginia, Jayson, Vanessa, Jasmine, Andrea, Chaylene, Stuart and Matthew and great-grandchildren Joshua and Anna. Gordon was very active in hockey and football in his early years. He was a past member of the Winnipeg Winter Club, St. Charles Country Club, the Manitoba Club and Reh-Fit Centre. He belonged to the Delta Upsilon Fraternity and was a past governor. He graduated from the University of Manitoba with an Honours Degree in Geology. Prospecting would mean being away too much so he opted to get into the money business by joining G.M.A.C. The family spent five years in Thunder Bay returning to Winnipeg in 1960 where he became General Manager of a local finance company and later became president. Always interested in business he became involved in a music store (Hammond Organ in Polo Park), Earthworm Construction (a piling company), Red River Construction (sewer and water), Illford Riverton Airways, Consolidated Turf Equipment (1965 Ltd.) and M.I.C.A. Leasing. Gordon spent 16 years with C.E.S.O. (Canadian Executive Services Organization). He spent time with every First Nations Band in Manitoba, as well as traveling overseas as a consultant to Kenya for four months, Columbia for two months and Guatemala for two months. For a brief period of his life Gordon wanted to be a farmer. He returned to University at age 52, graduating with a Diploma in Agriculture (University of Manitoba, 1978). He was a board member and President of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra during the Bramwell Tovey years. Mingling with the musicians was an enriching experience. He was a board member of 55 Nassau Condo Corp. Both Audrey and Gordon were long-standing members and volunteers of the Conservative Party. Audrey's grandmother ran for the Conservative Party in 1918. Gordon was a member of the Rotary Club since 1983 and had many enjoyable experiences hosting exchange students, Friendship Exchange visitors and participating with the on-going mixed bridge group. However, the Friendship Exchanges were one of his favourites. Gordon and Audrey were able to travel to South Africa, Mexico, Brazil, Australia and Houston, Texas. They met many Rotarians all over the world and found that the best way of seeing and experiencing a new destination was by actually living with the local people. A celebration of Gordon's life is to be held at the Manitoba Club at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 12, 2010. The family would be grateful, in lieu of flowers, that a donation be made to the Rotary Club, the Children's Hospital or a charity of one's choice.
