Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTENA TRUSZYNSKI BORYS (nee BURBA) We are saddened to announce that suddenly, on Tuesday, August 10, 2010, our Mom passed away after suffering a massive heart attack. Mom was born on January 2, 1925, in Sandy Lake, Manitoba. She grew up on the farm and after marrying John Truszynski, lived in Brandon first and then Winnipeg until her death. Mom's family was very important to her and she was caring and generous to her children and grandchildren. Mom was hardworking, and having grown up during the depression, she learned to economize and make the most of what she had. She sewed many items, from everyday clothes to a wedding dress and many Halloween costumes. Her creativity was evident in the things that she made from food items, clothing and household décor. She had many interests: among them knitting, gardening, cooking, sewing, reading, casino trips, walking and traveling. She traveled to many places in the world. She was an active member of St. John Cantius Catholic Women's League since 1977. She also loved making perogies and chatting with the ladies at St. Ivan's Ukrainian Orthodox Church. She enjoyed going to her cottage at Sandy Lake in the summer. There were always guests at the cottage with Mom cooking, entertaining, and in later years, card playing with family in the evenings was a favourite pastime. Friends and strangers were always welcome at Mom's. No one ever left her place without having tea and a snack. Mom loved animals and after Dad's death, her dog, Isuzu, was her loyal companion. After 25 years of being a widow, she married her first love Joe Borys (Papa Joe). They enjoyed many happy times joking and laughing together. Mom was predeceased by her parents Dora and Harry Burba, first husband John Truszynski, infant daughter Linda and grandson Nicholas. Mom is survived by her husband Joe Borys, daughter Margaret Kustra (Larry), son Ted Truszynski (Laurette) and daughter Teresa Truszynski (Wayne Bobychuk). She is also survived by grandchildren, Ken Kustra (Marcy), Dorian Senkow (Ryan), Michael Kustra, Danny Kustra, her great-grandson Kayden, and brother Paul Burba (Eileen). Mom had always said that she did not want a long obituary, but how could we say goodbye to her without truly remembering who she was. There will be a large emptiness in our family with Mom's passing. She was the glue that kept us together. May she rest in peace. Prayers will be said on Friday, August 13, 2010, at St. John Cantius Church at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be officiated by Fr. Yolando Gamallo on Saturday, August 14, 2010, at 8:30 a.m. at St. John Cantius Church, 846 Burrows Avenue, with interment at Holy Ghost Cemetery following reception. Pallbearers will be Mom's family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Funds For Furry Friends Dog Rescue, 208 - 740 Rosser Avenue, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 0K9. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111
