Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJACK NELSON FORD With great sadness, after a lengthy and courageous battle Jack Ford passed away August 6, 2010. Jack is survived by daughters Elizabeth MacKay (Terry) and Brenda Ford; grand-children Gregory MacKay, Brittany Spence (Stephen) and Nelson Tibble; great-grand-children Owen Spence who brought much enjoyment during his many visits; sister Verna McCulloch of Calgary; sister-in-law Helen Ford of Brandon and many dear nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Lily; son Murray; sisters, Lillian Jack, Dorothy Marquardson, Joyce Middler, brother Roy Ford and parents John and Mary Ford. Following his father's footsteps Jack worked at the CPR where he retired after 39 years. He loved fishing, the outdoors and delighted in the entertainment of the Lawrence Welk show. Jack enjoyed travel, making many trips with his wife Lily to Scotland and Hawaii. Jack and Lily travelled across Canada and the US during the early years of his retirement before taking up winter residence at Towerpoint resort in Mesa, AZ for 20 years. Always ready to lend a helping hand Jack soon had many friends in the park and became a regular at many of the events. Jack especially enjoyed the cribbage club and was an excellent player. Even in his last weeks and days Jack continued to play, scoring a 28 hand and winning most of the games. A loving and generous man, Jack enjoyed the company of children and was always doing his best to get everyone to smile. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 17 at 1:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Jack to the Manitoba Lung Association. The family wish to thank the caring and attentive staff at Grace Hospital and Deer Lodge Centre where Jack endeared himself over the last several months.
