Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUTH ELIZABETH EWING (nee JEFFERSON) November 18, 1926 August 5, 2010 Peacefully on Thursday, August 5, 2010, Ruth passed away. Mum was predeceased by the love of her life and husband George and her daughter Linda Ruth Ewing, and her parents Keddy Alexander Jefferson, an electrical engineer who graduated in 1918 from the University of Toronto, and Helen (nee Nottrott). Mum was born in Edmonton and her parents moved to Calgary, then on to Winnipeg, where Mum was raised. It was in Winnipeg that Mum met her lifelong friend Joyce Pearson in kindergarten. Mum and Joyce shared a lifetime of experiences, growing up together, getting married, having kids and living full and shared lives. Mum became a stenographer working at Western Elevator / Power and Mine Supply. It was there she met Dad, an equipment salesman, back from his tour of duty as a bomber navigator. Mum is very much loved and missed by her daughter Mary, grandson Jason, son John, wife Carol and Grandson Matthew. Mum was a dedicated member of the Harrow United Church, a volunteer, a partner with Dad, and a loving friend. She enjoyed making friends being a volunteer at Victoria Hospital, 10-pin Bowling on the Red' Alex team, and on many cross Canada and U.S. car trips with Dad. She was an avid Gothic romance pocketbook reader and had so many books, friends came to the Ewing Library' to borrow and return for more. Mum wanted to be with Dad, and his leaving us all too soon, four years ago, left her with a broken heart for him. Their relationship was very special and they made friends all along the way. Mum had compassion for all people and especially for the small furry feline critters. We are all grateful that her final years at Riverview included an adopted kitty, Toby, to cuddle at foot of the bed. The family appreciates the care and compassion of her friends at Riverview, the staff and the residents alike. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice. A Memorial Service will be held, Thursday, August 19, 2010, 2:00 p.m., in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. THOMSON IN THE PARK 925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com
