THOMAS H. CLARK It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Thomas H. Clark, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and good friend. Tom passed away peacefully on August 11, 2010 at the Riverview Health Centre with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. Tom will be greatly missed by his wife of 50 years, Anne, daughters Elizabeth (Comrie), Linda (Tim), grandchildren David (Mandi), Dustyn, Christian, Steven and Jessica, and great-grandson Taylor. Also left to mourn his passing are three brothers-in-law and wives in Scotland and one sister-in-law and husband in the United States, as well as many close friends. Tom was born on January 22, 1938 in Glasgow, Scotland, the only child of Andrew and Elizabeth Clark. Tom spent his youth enjoying his time as a life boy Junior Reserve from 1946 to 1949 and then transferred to the 269th Company of the Boys Brigade. He attended Knightswood School then Stow College of Engineering while serving his apprenticeship at Millburn Motors. He married his sweetheart Anne on November 19, 1959 while serving his two years National Service with the Royal Engineers in Swindon, England 1959 to 1961. In 1975 Tom, Anne and their two daughters emigrated from Scotland to Winnipeg, where Tom worked for Atomic Transfer until 1998 and finished his working career with Ryan Truck until retirement in 2002. Tom loved to spend time at the cottage at Hillside Beach and liked to spend winters in Mexico and other sunny places. Tom dearly loved his grandchildren and loved to watch them play hockey and soccer. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, a donation in Tom's memory be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Rm. ON 1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Health Sciences Centre 4th floor for their caring and compassion shown to Tom during his time, and special thanks to Dr. James Johnson at CancerCare Manitoba.
