Joyce was born in Winnipeg on July 22, 1941, the daughter of Fritz and Gunhild Magdalena Andersen. She attended Gordon Bell High School, the University of Manitoba, and worked 10 years at the Winnipeg Public Library. After meeting John Martin Peters at a dance, they married March 18, 1967, and enjoyed 43 years together. Joyce loved living in the country on Pioneer Road near Bird's Hill Park, and spending time at the cottage on Lake Winnipeg. Joyce played tennis, took long walks, cross-country skied, sewed beautiful clothes for herself, and travelled North America from Alaska to Texas. She loved cats, gourmet cooking, going to restaurants, shopping in Polo Park, and seeing movies, especially bawdy comedies. Most of all, she loved spending time with friends and family. The proud mother of daughters Tanya and Susan, she was delighted with her grandson Ronan. She is also survived by Tanya's husband William Mackenzie, her brother Kenneth Andersen, his children Sonya, Eric, Emmy, her aunt Hilda Sjoberg, and her nephew Scott Ostermann.
