Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES ALBERT GOATCHER CWO (RETIRED) Following a brief illness, James (Jim) Goatcher passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at the age of 84. Jim was born on November 4, 1925 in Shoreham, England. In 1950 he married Elizabeth Lawson of Worthing, Sussex. Jim began his military career with the Royal Air Force and later served in the British Army in India during the Second World War. In 1953, he joined the Canadian Army's Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RCEME). Following a brief tour of duty in Germany, he immigrated to Canada with his family in 1955. Jim served as a peacekeeper with the UN in Egypt and Cyprus. Back home in Canada, he served posts in Regina, Petawawa, Shilo, Borden, and Winnipeg. He retired from the military in 1980 in Winnipeg at the rank of CWO. During his retirement years, he worked part-time at Seven Oaks Hospital and Assiniboine Clinic. Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth, and sons Richard (Sandy), Robert (Marie), James (Barbara), Bradley (Suzanne), and Russell (Katey) as well as six grandchildren, Alex, Erica, Elyse, Nicholas, Sydney, and Sean. A private memorial will be held in Victoria, BC on August 28. Condolences can be emailed to bradg@bgsolutions.ca
