WILLIAM RICHARD (BILL) HOPKINS The Hopkins family is deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of William Richard (Bill) Hopkins on August 12, 2010. Left to forever cherish his memory is his beloved wife Beverley; brother Jack; children, Deborah (Robert), Perry (Dawna), Sandra, Randy (Maxine); grandchildren, Jennifer, Candace, Elizabeth (Toban), Stephanie, Sara, Marie, and Madison. Bill was preceded by his father Andrew, mother Vila and brother Bobby. Bill was born on May 19, 1933 and grew up in the East St. Paul / Bird's Hill area where he would meet and devote 53 years to his childhood sweetheart Beverley. Bill had a passion for anything with wheels and a motor and would spend many weekends racing stock cars throughout Manitoba and Minnesota. This passion lead Bill to gain employment at Purvis Motors until 1966, and Winnipeg Transit up to his retirement in 1994. Realizing that retirement was not his style, Bill took a job with Beaver Bus Lines and was a favourite of the students of St. John's Ravenscourt up to as recently as 2009. Bill was also a passionate animal lover and would spend most of his days doting over his many furry friends. As an expression of sympathy, if friends wish, donations may be made in Bill's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 44 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3. Bill's life will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18 at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, Manitoba. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111
