PETER TERECK In sadness we announce the passing of Peter, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather on August 13, 2010. Remaining to forever cherish Peter's memory are his children, Ken (Jackie), Ron (Eva), Jeanne, Jerry (Tammy) and Robby (Denise); grandchildren, Corinne (Kevin), Larry, Gail (Scott), Jeff (Kim), Jackie (Chris), Melissa (Kris), Amy, Robby, Peter, Ashley and numerous great-grand-children. He is predeceased by his loving wife Amelia; and daughter Catherine; his parents, Anne and Mike Tereck; brothers, John (Goldie), Bill (Kay); sisters, Eva (Frank), Kay (Alex) and Ollie (Peter). Peter was born in the McCreary, MB area where they farmed until Dad and his brother Bill enlisted in the Second World War. Upon returning from overseas, Peter was hired by TransCanada Air Lines in Gander, NL where he met and married our mother, Amelia Byrne in 1951. They relocated in Winnipeg after Peter was transferred with TCA where he remained until retirement. Even with six children Peter always found time to volunteer at Luxton Community Centre, clearing ice, coaching or driving all over the city with car loads of rowdy kids to our hockey games, or coaching softball, he truly had the patience of a saint. Dad's happiest times were the years he spent at The Mantag with his family and best friend Mac hunting, fishing and sharing stories. The last two years has been especially hard for Dad with the loss of his wife Amy and his daughter Cathy. Despite all this he never complained and always had a smile for all of us when we visited. His quiet courage and perseverance was an inspiration for his children. Peter was a wonderful Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather and Friend. Loyalty, integrity, commitment, honesty and a strong work ethic were the principles Dad lived his life by and passed down to his family. Peter was often described as a Prince of Man and a true Gentleman by those who knew him. He was honest, principled and a non-judgmental role model for his family creating who we are today. First and foremost in Peter's life has always been his devotion to his wife, family and country. Thank you Dad for your true example of love, selflessness, generosity and concern for others.....We will always strive to continue your legacy. Memorial service will be held on Friday, August 20, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Peter's memory to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba. The family would like to extend our deep appreciation to Dr. J. Loiselle, Dr. J. Brown and staff at Riverview Health Centre for their wonderful care and compassion. Everyone who knew Peter will always have a fond story to tell and warm memories to cherish. The mention of his name will always bring a smile to the faces of all who knew him. Death brings a heartache no one can heal, but love leaves a memory no one can steal. Rest in peace Dad, give our love to Mom and Cathy. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111
