CATHERINE ISOBEL MILLER (STEELE) 1942 - 2010 It is with deep sorrow and grief we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our beloved Cathy. She passed peacefully with her family by her side on August 17, 2010 at Victoria General Hospital. Cathy is survived by her devoted and loving husband Ken, of 49 years, her beloved sons Cameron (Sandra) and Brian, and her grandchildren Shawn and Chelsey. She leaves behind sisters, Doreen (Fred) Klose of Winnipeg, Irene (Julien) Carriere of Williams Lake, BC, Linda Steele of Longmont, CO, and her brother Sandy (Evelyn) of Winnipeg. Also sisters-in-law, Eileen (Elmore) Lohmar of Stonewall, MB, Denise (Gary) McGaughey of Belfair, WA, and many nieces and nephews. Cathy was tragically predeceased by her beloved son Lyndon in 1971. Also predeceased are her parents Jim and Cathy Steele, great-niece Mackenzie Draper and great-nephew Andrew Klose. Cathy immigrated to Canada from Scotland with her family in 1955. She met the love of her life Ken, and they married on May 6, 1961. They lived in Vancouver for six years returning to Winnipeg in 1971 to open Miller's Supervalue Meats where they worked tirelessly side by side. They ran the business for 22 years, retiring in 1992. They then travelled extensively spending the last 10 winters in Myrtle Beach, SC, where they made many wonderful and lasting friendships. Cathy loved to spend time at her cottage in Gimli where she also had many dear friends. Cathy belonged to the Red Hat Society and loved sharing many a laugh and antic with her Red Hat Sisters. Her greatest pleasure in life was seeing the joy she could bring to others through her selfless generosity and volunteer work. This was echoed through her many creative talents from baking, knitting, crafts, and decorating. Never was a grandmother more caring, or a wife more loving in the 49 years Ken and Cathy were together. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 23 at 10:00 a.m. at Thomson In The Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations in Cathy's memory can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.

  • Grandma we miss you. I wish I could sit at your kitchen table and Listen to you talk. I’m learning to play the pipes, I know you would be thrilled to hear me play. I think about you almost everyday. I couldn’t have asked for a better grandmother. I was so lucky to call you my family. Thank you for loving me and Chelsey. We had so many nice memories of our childhood because of you. Love you forever. - Posted by: Shawn Miller (Grandson) on: Feb 14, 2022
