Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryA. MARY STEIN (nee WILSON) 1919 - 2010 On Friday, August 13, 2010 Mary passed away at her home. Remaining to forever cherish Mary's memory are her brothers Frank, John; sister Dorothy Tracey; sons Douglas (Anna), Allan (Irene); daughter Norine Larratt (Dennis); grandchildren Tracy, Deann (Dave), Erin (Jamie), Geoffrey (Nicole), Jennifer, Norman, Philip, Edward (Christine); great-grandchildren Lunden, Brooke, Lily and Alexander. She will also be missed very much by her many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Edward as well as seven brothers and sisters. Mom was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan on August 22, 1919. She helped raise her younger siblings then moved to Winnipeg to work at the Royal Alex Hotel. Mary met Edward, they fell in love and got married in Winnipeg in 1942. She and Ed moved many times to accommodate his career path. In addition to being homemaker Mary also worked at The Bay in Churchill and Lynn Lake, Canada Post in Churchill and McLeods in Swift Current. They retired to Arden, Manitoba. Mom was very independent and one week before she passed away admitted she might need a little help vacuuming and making the bed. Mary had many interests but she enjoyed embroidery, knitting and crocheting. She loved bowling and won many trophies and pins, often beating Ed. She curled in her younger years in Churchill and Arden and spent hours on the phone with her sister Dorothy dissecting the on air curling games, usually while they were being played. Several years after Ed's passing Mary moved to Winnipeg and kept busy with her flower beds and reading. She loved entertaining family and tea parties were requested by her great-grandchildren when they visited. In compliance with Mary's wishes no formal Funeral Service will be held. Interment will take place at a later date. We wish to thank Mary's family physician, Dr. Yang and from CancerCare St. Boniface, Dr. Moltzan and all the wonderful nurses, staff and volunteers who made her visits there more pleasurable. Also we wish to express our appreciation to her neighbours, Cindy, Betty and Jeannine for being good friends and keeping watch over her and thank you to Phyllis, Jill and Sol for their companionship. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Mary's memory to a charity of your choice.
