LANNY ALFRED STOREY 1947 - 2010 With great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Lanny Storey on Wednesday, August 18th, 2010. He will be dearly missed by his devoted wife Colleen; children, Shaunna, Jeffrey; stepchildren, Brent (Angie) Beaque, children Brady, Charlie and Hayden, Ainsley (George) Sali and Gabriella, Jennifer (Gene) Buhler, children Mathew and Seanna and brother Laurie (Linda) Storey. Lanny was predeceased by his parents Burt and Sadie Storey and Sister Penny Popiel. Lanny was born and raised in the St. James area where he attended St. James Collegiate. After high school he completed an architectural drafting course at Red River College and worked at Government Services until he suffered a massive stroke in 1991. Since then he has tenaciously battled with paralysis and other health related issues while receiving the on-going love and support of his wife Colleen. Lanny enjoyed participating and watching all sports and he excelled in baseball, hockey and golf. Upon retiring from playing ball, umpiring the game became his passion. His trips to the North to umpire ball tournaments usually included time to pursue his other outdoor interests fishing and hunting. Lanny's hobby of building and flying radio control model airplanes lead to the purchase of a Cessana 182, flying it with his lifelong friend Curtis Hanstead. His family would like to recognize the support of his brother Laurie and his home services provider Joenel Paraton for the hours of time spent engaging him in limited but meaningful activities. At Lanny's request a cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers if friends so desire a donations can be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3L OK6. NEIL BARDAL INC. (204) 949-2200 nbardal.mb.ca
