TERRY ROY ALIX March 24, 1951 - August 22, 2010 Taken very early at the age of 59 years, the memory of Terry will be cherished by his loving wife Heather and children Cody (Michelle) and Dustin. He will be sadly missed by his stepmother Kathy, brothers John (Nadia) and Tom (Lois), sister Tracy (Les) Johnson, brother-in-law Garry, and he will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Terry was predeceased by his mother (Babe), father (Red), and sister (Jayne). Terry was born in Saskatoon, SK. and moved to Winnipeg at the age of three. He spent most of his youth in St. James where he was a member of the Air Cadets attaining a rank of Flight Sergeant. Terry was one of six cadets chosen from across Canada to march before the Queen at Expo 1967. Terry attended Silver Heights Collegiate and Red River Community College where he graduated with a diploma in Business Administration. Terry followed in his father's footsteps by becoming the morning man at radio station CKDR in Dryden, ON. His career took him through Brandon until settling down in Saskatoon, SK. where he found his niche in marketing and promotion. Terry and Heather started their family in Saskatoon and discovered their love for country living on an acreage where they could have horses of their own. Terry was eventually lured to Winnipeg by CBC television and he snapped at the opportunity to come home to be closer to family. Terry purchased an acreage in St. Andrews where he raised his family and horses. Always a champion to the underdog Terry took pleasure in being a Big Brother while in Saskatoon and his days spent volunteering at the soup kitchen in Selkirk. His great sense of humour won him many friends throughout his life. Terry's door was always open to any and all visitors. He was happiest when he was entertaining guests. The family would like express their appreciation to the many that supported Terry through his difficult years while he struggled with his health. A celebration of Terry's life will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2010, at 11:00 in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
