OLGA CHRISTIANSEN It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dearest mother Olga Amelia Christiansen (nee Goranski) on August 25, 2010 at the Lakeshore General Hospital in Ashern, at the age of 94. Mother was predeceased by her husband Thorbjorn in 1970; brothers Alex, Joe, Charley and Louis; sister Sophie and son-in-law Jim. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Violet (Rick), Grace (Garry), Lillian (Neil), Marilyn (Fred), Bernice (Victor), Donna (Ray), Irma (Harold); sons Lorne (Sylvia) and Lloyd (Carole); sisters Alice, Victoria, Margret, Louise, Tilley, Bernice and brother Tony along with numerous nieces and nephews. Olga was blessed with 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Mother was born at home in Camper, MB in the Woolsery District on July 22, 1916. At age 16, Mother worked as a Domestic Engineer in numerous homes, ending up in the home of Marie and Marius Christiansen where she met the love of her life, Torbjorn Christiansen. They married in 1935 and lived on the homestead in the Agriculture District until 1952 when the family relocated three miles east of Mulvihill, MB. Mother retired from the farm in 1978 and built a house in the town of Mulvihill, her beloved home until she moved into the senior's residences. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at the Ashern Legion Hall with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. A private family interment will be held at the Mulvihill Cemetery. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Lakeshore General Hospital in Ashern and the Home Care workers of the Pioneer Manor. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Olga was my Grand-Aunt, and while I never knew her personally due to my grandmother's (Margret) distant relationship with her siblings, it saddens me to discover her passing only a few years ago. I am trying to find out more information about my great-grandparents, Tony (Anton) and Nellie. If any of my cousins see this, please try to reach me at cnorthey@ualberta.ca with "GOURANSKY" in the subject line. God bless, Clayton Northey - Posted by: Clayton Northey (Grand-nephew) on: Jul 28, 2015
