Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGINA BALDWIN AITKEN (nee FOLKETT) 1911-2010 Peacefully on July 7, 2010 Georgie Aitken passed away at the age of 98 years. Georgie was predeceased by her husband Forrest, brother Monty and sister Josephine. She will be dearly missed by her daughters Susan and Phyllis (Randy), granddaughters Elizabeth and Catherine, her sister Phyllis Webber, and nephews, nieces and numerous friends. Mom was born in Saskatoon, lived all her life in Winnipeg. She made life-long friends at school, Girl Guides and Rangers, and loved tennis, bowling and especially golf. Georgie was a camera buff and was able, with pictures and slides, to let her family and friends glimpse her rich history. Her pictures of the 1950 Flood are extraordinary, and she was very proud of them. Mom stayed home after her children were born. She sold Beauty Counselors cosmetics for over 50 years. When Dad retired, they spent winters in Lakeland, Florida and after Dad passed away, she continued to go down to the mobile home (not trailer). Georgie loved music, played piano for hours, for her own relaxation and enjoyment. She was able to tinkle the ivories until last October when a partial stroke left her unable to play. Mom was very proud of her granddaughters and spoke highly of their accomplishments. A Celebration of Georgie's life will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 30 at St. Bartholomew's Church, 966 Autumnwood Dr. with Rev. Jody Miles officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
