Born: Jun 28, 1931
Date of Passing: Aug 23, 2010
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEAN (JEANETTE) MCMURRAY (nee KINDYBALL/LAMBERT) Peacefully on Monday August 23, 2010 at the age of 79 after a brief illness, with her daughter Marne and best friend Laurie O by her side. Jean was predeceased by her parents Mike and Olga Kindyball, sister Violet DeVries, first husband Donald Lambert and second husband Sydney McMurray. Remaining to cherish her memory is her daughter Marne (Craig); daughter Bonnie: grandson Taylor, granddaughter Carley; son Ben (Susan); daughter Laurie (Jerry); brother Warren, as well as nieces, nephews and extended family in Manitoba, Ontario and California. Also, Jean leaves behind to remember her a stepdaughter Alanna (John): granddaughters Aidan and Meika; stepdaughter Cydney (Chuck): grandson Galen; stepson Ross (Lee): and granddaughter Amy. Jean was born on June 28, 1931 in Winnipeg where she resided all her life. She married her first husband Donald, in 1952 and second husband Sydney, in 1973. Jean was employed by the Taxation Department, the RCMP and The Bay. Following the birth of her children, Jean began a long and rewarding career of crafting and horticultural hobbies. She was a truly amazing and gifted artisan. Jean belonged to numerous organizations throughout her life -The Crafts Guild of Manitoba, The Red River Exhibition, The Crafts Council of Manitoba, The Miniature Enthusiasts of Winnipeg (M.E.O.W), The St. Vital Agricultural Society and was also a Provincial Agricultural Judge. She was one of the first participants in the Manitoba Christmas Craft Sale, which she continued for many years. It was here that people were often introduced to her infamous Snowbabies , Tiny Teddies and Angel Babies , to name a few. Jean's work as a Manitoba artist was recognized by all levels of Governments, as well as The Queen. There was no craft that she could not do and no craft challenge too big. Her imagination and ability made her a truly unique individual. Her legacy will live on through the wonderful art pieces she created. Jean was the second woman in Manitoba to reach the 200 Donation Level with the Canadian Blood Services, something she was very proud of. An ardent fan of The Winnipeg Blue Bombers, she also thoroughly enjoyed horse racing, bingo and trips to the Casino. Ironically enough, her last car ride took her very close to the racetrack she loved so much. To all the Staff at Vista Park Lodge where Jean(ette) happily resided for the last three years, thank-you from the bottom of our hearts for the care and concern shown to both her and our family. You are a special group of people. (Lorna-the Queen has left her thrown!) Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Jean's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday September 3, 2010 at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., Winnipeg, MB. Gone Gambling GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 982-7550
