EMMA LOUISE SAUVE June 19, 1913 - August 23, 2010 With slight sorrow and great joy we announce the passing of our loving mother, to her much desired, heavenly home. Mom was predeceased by her husband Firm in 1984, two sisters and a brother. She is survived by her children Ted (Linda), Bev (Craig), Ruth, Judy (Dennis), nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, along with close friends Judy and Sam Holukoff. Mom lived a very rich life. Born in Springtown, PA, she graduated from Nyack Missionary College, N.Y., did community work with cotton mill children in N. Carolina, and then moved to Africa with Dad, where she spent four years teaching school children in Sudan. She had already lived a life-time within 28 years. While in Africa, Dad became extremely sick and had to stay at a sanatorium 500 miles away. Mom lived as a single mother with Ted, her first born in Africa, having the closest English speaking people 50 miles away. When Mom and Dad's missionary time was completed, they went on a gruelling walk through Liberia to the coast of Sierra Leone, took a clipper trip to Brazil, and finally a flight to New York, before moving to Ottawa. In Canada, Mom gave birth to Bev, Ruth, and Judy and lived with Dad in pastorates in various southern Ontario cities, using her gifts of teaching, administration, and music. Winnipeg was her final destination. In this city, she spent 11 years working in the Unemployment Insurance Commission as well as part time at Eaton's. In her retirement, she and Dad spent their winters at Lake Havasu, AZ. Sitting by the water and reading her chosen books was the time we believe she actually could relax. At the age of 87, mom moved into Lion's Manor where she was actively involved with people and various activities. Her faith kept her strong throughout all circumstances, and we relied upon her many loving prayers for us. We are very proud that we can call her our mother. When mom moved out of her apartment, she lived at the Fort Garry Care Center for two years and enjoyed the dedicated staff. We very much appreciate the loving care Miriam Neufeld and the staff at Lion's PCC gave Mom over the past four years. They are truly a wonderful team. Thank you for all you have done. In keeping with mom's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 10, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Alliance Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mom's memory to Cornerstone Alliance Church: Missions Global Advance Fund. With the Lord, and forever cherished in our memories GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 982-7550
