Born: Dec 10, 1936
Date of Passing: Aug 25, 2010
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOREEN DUECK Doreen Dueck, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend, after a long, determined and hard-fought struggle with arthritis, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 with her husband, her children and all of her siblings at her side. She is survived by her husband, Jake, with whom she shared 53 years of marriage, as well as three daughters, Wanda and Dale Klassen; Denise and Brent Unrau and their children Sara and Dan Stewart, and Tristan; Candace and Darryl Wylie and their children Brenten, Brandon, and Anna. She is also survived by her two sisters, Rosaline (Levi) Rempel and Diana (Alvin) Rempel, two brothers, Elmer (Anne) Brandt and Harry (Audrey) Brandt, and their families, as well as her brother-in-law Andrew (Esther) Dueck and his family. Doreen was born the second of five siblings to Jac and Mary Brandt on December 10, 1936 and lived all of her life in the Rosenort / Riverside area. She, as a confession of her faith, was baptized and became a member of the Rosenort EMC in 1951. She fulfilled her life's dream when she married a farmer from Riverside, Jake L. Dueck, on September 25, 1957, and their farm was a true partnership in every way. One of her favourite seasons of the year was harvest when she drove the combine. She was a Proverbs 31 woman, sewing for her three girls, keeping a large garden, and participating in both her church and community. At approximately fifty years of age, her life took a sudden turn when she was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and she struggled valiantly to live as full of a life as possible until the day she went to be with her Heavenly Father. A Celebration of Doreen's life will be held on Sunday, August 29 at 3:00 p.m. at the Rosenort Evangelical Mennonite Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthritis Society. The family wishes to thank family and friends who so faithfully prayed for Doreen, brought meals, visited and encouraged her. Thanks also goes to Dr. Ann Loewen, Doreen's doctor, who was remarkable in her care for Doreen until the very end; as well as home care nurses Debbie, Shelly, and Gayle, who lovingly tended to her over many years. Our gratitude is also extended to the nursing staff at the Morris Hospital, who was so good to Doreen during her many stays in the hospital.
