Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERIK PETER VONKLEIST It is with deep sadness that we announce that Erik passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at the age of 60 years. Remaining to forever cherish Erik's memory is his beloved wife of 29 years, Leslie; brother Joe (Anne) Nordin; sister Nora (Greg) Fredette; nieces Liz Nordin, Samantha and Emily Fredette; nephew Paul Nordin; mother-in-law Jean Harris and brother-in-law Colin Harris. He was predeceased by his parents Harold and Rose Nordin. Erik was born in Halifax, N.S. on September 10, 1949. As the son of an army serviceman who was posted regularly, he lived in Halifax, Alliston, Barrie, Edmonton, and Winnipeg. His working career included employment with Canada Post, and over 30 years with Canada Revenue Agency where he took early retirement in 2004 due to ill health. Erik was a collector of Canadian militaria and an active member of the Military Collector's Club of Canada. He was also an avid philatelist since childhood. He was a member of the Transcona branch of the Royal Canadian Legion which also honoured his war veteran parents. On Tuesday, August 31, 2010, Erik's Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue, with Rev. Gordon Shields presider. For those who wish viewing will be held prior to Erik's Service.
