Duncan leaves behind his wife Margaret; daughters Heather (Waren) and Laurie; son Robert; granddaughters Jennifer and Melissa; sisters Barbara (Brian) and Valerie (Doug); and sister-in-law Betty; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Duncan was predeceased by his parents Stuart and Margaret Broadfoot; in-laws Fred and Edith Jenkins; as well as beloved uncles and aunts. Duncan was born April 20, 1942 in Gladstone where he was raised and lived his entire life. Following high school he entered the faculty of Agriculture at the University of Manitoba where he made many lifelong friends. Duncan later returned to Gladstone to farm the original Broadfoot homestead. In 1966 he married his true love Margaret Jenkins and proudly raised three children with her. Duncan's pride of his heritage and family history in the town of Gladstone was one of the reasons for his volunteer work in the community. He was a member of the United Church and served as a Board member. He was a director of the local United Grain Growers and served on the executive for the local rink. Duncan also marshalled the fair and Christmas parades for many years. He served on the local health board and as a member of the Central Plains Regional Health Board. Duncan also served as a councilor and Reeve of the R.M. of Westbourne. He volunteered outside of the community as well. Duncan served with Manitoba Pool, ACRE and KAP. Duncan was also very involved socially in the community. He was an active curler for many years, an avid flyer, known to frequent the coffee shop once in a while (!) and was the photographer for many weddings and social gatherings in Gladstone. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gladstone United Church with Rev. Heather Lea officiating. Interment will follow in the Gladstone Cemetery.
