Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALTER (YON YON) KONARSKI July 4, 1929 - August 26, 2010 Suddenly on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at the age of 81, peacefully passed away at Seven Oaks General Hospital. He will be sadly missed by his son Carl. Walter was predeceased by his beloved wife, Elsie in 2008, Father Karol in 1961, mother Christina in 1978, brother Edward in 2006, and nephew Donald in 2008. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Anne Konarski, and nieces, Barb and Deb. Walter was born and schooled in Winnipeg. He attended Isaac Newton High School where he excelled at sports, especially football. In 1950 he got his chance to play professional football and was selected to play for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (#62), where he played in the famous Mud Bowl of 1950. He played for two years until injuries made it impossible for him to continue in his football career. He retired from working at Canada Post in 1986. In 1953 he married Elsie, and lived in the North End of Winnipeg. They loved to travel, he liked to golf, so Myrtle Beach became their winter getaway for many years, until Elsie's illness made it impossible to travel. Carl would like to offer his sincere appreciation to all of his home care workers for all their help and support over the last few years. Thank you for your loving care and compassion. You all made his life more comfortable. Cremation has taken place, and there will be no services at the request of the deceased, and a private family interment will be held.
