ELMA BRANDT REMPEL January 27, 1923- August 26, 2010 Surrounded by her family Elma passed away on Thursday August 26, 2010. She was predeceased by her husband Peter, an infant son Donald, her parents Klaas and Helena Brandt, her brother Henry and wife Helen Brandt, sisters Catherine Brandt, and Elizabeth and husband Jac Regehr, brothers and sisters in law Ben and Alvina Loewen, Edmar Rempel and Wilma Rempel. Elma is survived by her two loving daughters, Louise and husband Frank Gillis and Arlene Rempel, two nephews Dave and Jim Brandt and their families, two nieces Joyce and Jane Regehr and members of her husbands family, Art and Leona Rempel, Martha Rempel, Romelda and Ed Schellenberg, Lorne Rempel, Leander and Louise Rempel and nieces and nephews. Elma had a gentle nature and never complained. If there was a negative thought about anyone it was never expressed. She worked tirelessly for her family and was a perfectionist at sewing, cooking and baking. She had a keen interest in genealogy and passed to her children many accounts of her pioneer parents and grandparents and their extended families. On August 10 of this year Elma suffered a large heart attack and never regained her strength. We will miss her presence in our lives but are assured that although she may be absent from body she is present with the Lord. The funeral service for Elma Rempel will be held on Tuesday, August 31, at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Viewing will be prior to the service. Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Calvary Place Personal Care Home for their care of Elma over the past four months.
