She will be missed by her sisters Stella (Steve) Uruski, Adele Monasterski, Zen (Don) MacDonald, Theresa Prystupa and brothers Orest (Rose) Prystupa, John (Helene) Prystupa, Marvin (Joanne) Prystupa, and Leonard Prystupa, sister-in-law Stella Mankewich, special family friend Doreen Kostynuik, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Michael, infant daughter Violet, parents Anton and Olga Prystupa, sister Joan Prystupa, and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Savella was born December 18, 1931 in Great Deer, Saskatchewan, the eldest of 10 children. She was married on July 26, 1952 to Mike Mankewich. At the time of his passing they were married for 48 years. They lived in Dallas, Manitoba until 1972 when they moved to the Argyle area where she lived until her passing. She worked hard along-side her husband, providing the necessities of family life. Mom's ability to listen and her encouraging words were valued by family members of all ages. She had a great love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and her hobbies were always centered around them. These hobbies included gardening and making dill pickles for family gatherings, quilting heart-felt gifts designed with a personal touch, crocheting afghans, making other crafts as keepsakes, cooking home-made soup, making donuts and other sweet treats, painting, and building jigsaw puzzles. Her talents are evident in her family's homes. Her love of reading, flower gardening, music, sudoku, and word puzzles were special past times. She looked forward to Wednesday afternoon visits with her quilting group friends. Throughout the years she was an active member in both St. Michael's Church in Dallas and Christ the King Church in Stonewall. She was also a Sunday school teacher, 4-H leader, and community supporter. Good faith activities included crocheting for the needy, baking for charity, always giving generously of her time and self. Savella along with her husband Mike believed there are many challenges in life, but the love and support of family and strong faith will master all. This was especially evident in her courageous battle with cancer. On behalf of our mother we wish to express a very special thank you to medical staff at Cancer Care, 3B ward at St. Boniface Hospital, Stonewall Hospital, Home Care, and Palliative Care for their kindness and loving care during her illness. The family is very appreciative of the Palliative Care Room services at Stonewall Hospital for being very accommodating in allowing us to be with our mother at all times in her final weeks. Our heartfelt thanks go to the many family, friends, and neighbours for their love and support during this difficult time. Prayers will take place at 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 30 at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, 433 Main St., Stonewall. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 31 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 315 2nd St. East, Stonewall. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Stonewall Hospital (memo: Palliative Care Room Renovation Project), Cancer Care, or a charity of your choice. There is no other love like a mother's love!
