JOHN WERBOWSKI 1933 2010 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of John Edward Ed Werbowski on August 27, 2010 at the Riverview Health Centre. He is survived by his wife, Glenda, his sons Kim (Kelly) and Jim (Piper), grandchildren Sam, Lane, Katie, Reid, Quinn and Jake; brothers Norm (Regina) Wylie and Peter (Sylvia) Wylie; sisters, Kay Woloschuk and Eleanor Szekley as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years Ruth Werbowski (nee Shapko), in January 2007. Ed was born January 22, 1933 to Dimitri and Mary Werbowski in Wroxton, Saskatchewan. It was there he spent the majority of his school years eventually finishing school in Kamsack, Saskatchewan. Ed began his career as a tradesman in the newspaper business with the Kamsack Times, moving onto Olds Alberta in this career vein. He was subsequently a type setter with the Regina Leader Post. It was during this time that Ed married Ruth Shapko in Canora, Saskatchewan on February 15, 1958. They began their life together in Regina, Saskatchewan where their first son Kim was born. Shortly after the family moved to Yorkton where Ed continued his career in the newspaper business with the Yorkton Enterprise. It was in Yorkton that Ed and Ruth's second son Jim was born. During his time in Yorkton Ed was a charter member of the Yorkton Jaycee Unit. He served as the provincial secretary for the Jaycees and was eventually granted the highest Jaycee honour and was named a Junior Chamber International Senator by the Jaycee. In 1969 the family moved to Winnipeg where Ed's career took a new direction with the purchase of Inland Audio Visual. Ed was extremely dedicated to the growth and prosperity of Inland Audio Visual and was joined in the family business by his son Kim in 1977 and Jim in 1980. One of Ed's proudest moments was when the business crossed provincial boundaries and expanded first into Saskatchewan and then Alberta. Ed was a founding member of the Charleswood Rotary and served them proudly for many years. In 2007 Ed retired from Inland Audio Visual to begin his well-deserved golden years. On June 28, 2008 he married Glenda Daniels, longtime friend and neighbour. Ed had an incredible work ethic and worked hard and long to build a business as his legacy. He was a proud man who lived life on his own terms. He will be missed. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations to CancerCare Manitoba, ON 1160 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9, would be most appreciated. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 2, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Honorary Pallbearers are Sam, Lane, Katie, Reid, Quinn and Jake. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
