MADELINE OLA SACHACKY It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of our mother, baba and great-baba on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Red River Place with her family at her side. Madeline was born on May 17, 1923 in the village of Verhnya in Ukraine. In 1940 she was taken to work in Germany during the war. She met her future husband, Kornelius Sachacky there and they were married on August 4, 1945. Dad came to Canada in 1947 and found work in Ontario. He sent for my Mom and she came to Canada on December 24, 1948. They settled in East Selkirk and later moved to Selkirk. Madeline was predeceased by her beloved husband in January 1999 and by her parents and two sisters. She is survived by her loving daughter, Donna and son-in-law Doug Smederovac; grandchildren, Cary (Carolyn Eichkorn), Angie (Brett Mason) and Jackie Fritz; great-grandchildren, Paige, Jamie and Benjamin. The family would like to extend their gratitude to all of the wonderful staff at Red River Place for caring for Mom for the last seven years. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 3, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Eucharist Church, corner of Pacific Avenue and Sophia Street in Selkirk. As per Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place and family interment will be prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
