LAURENT ZEPHIRIN HEBERT Suddenly, on Monday, August 30, 2010, Laurent Hébert passed away peacefully at the DeSalaberry District Health Centre in St. Pierre-Jolys, Manitoba at the age of 87 years. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Léa ( née Turenne) and her children, Roger (Sandy) Goulet, Claude (Lucie) Goulet, Denis Goulet, Denise (Gilbert) Hince, Doris (Doug) Smith, and Marc (Lynne) Goulet. He also leaves behind, 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren who thought dearly of him, as well as numerous nieces and nephews from all across Canada. Laurent was predeceased by his parents, Evariste and Donalda (née Tétreault), and by all his brothers and sisters, Marie, Joseph, Joséphine, Cyrille, Lévis, Ernest, Thérèse, André and Cécile. Laurent was born on August 27, 1923 and resided in St. Malo, Manitoba for the majority of his life. As a young man, he worked the land with his parents and brothers. He also worked on a variety of interesting construction sites such as the creation of the Falcon Lake Provincial Park, the Hecla Island Causeway, and the St. Lawrence Seaway which enabled him to master a number of trades. He farmed with his brother, André until their retirement. Laurent was a soft-spoken, pensive man. In spite of his reserved demeanor, he still displayed his clever sense of humour. He liked to tell a good joke or two. He was also a long-service member of the Iberville Council Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent much time after his retirement on his ATV with his friends, especially Florent and Roger. They would be seen out on the local trails on a regular basis . He also enjoyed playing cards, pool and shuffleboard with his friends and family. Laurent's love of music was well known and he would occasionally entertain his nieces and nephews with a tune or two on memère's piano. He will be missed at the local dances and musical events. His extended family would like to thank the medical staff at the DeSalaberry District Health Centre for the compassionate care Laurent received during his short stay at the hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the DeSalaberry Health Foundation, St. Pierre-Jolys, MB, R0A 1V0. Funeral mass will be celebrated by Father Marcel Chaput at the St. Malo Roman Catholic Church on Friday, September 3, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. Interment will take place in the St. Malo Parish Cemetery following the mass. Vous qui connaissez si bien le Coeur de notre oncle, Seigneur, donnez-lui le repos eternel. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements. 775-2220
