RODNEY (BO) ROGER DNISTRANSKY April 7, 1956 - September 1, 2010 It is with great sadness, the Dnistransky family announces Rod's untimely passing at his family home in Selkirk, Manitoba. Rod was predeceased by his wife Sue, his father Seth, his infant brother Barry and life long best friend Greg Lewis. He is survived by his Mother Nuddy, sons Jason Howard (Jennifer) and Aaron Howard (Sandy), granddaughter Eloise Howard, sisters Linda (Doug) and Brenda (Al), brothers Gary (Doris) and Daryl (Anita), nieces Olivia and Jacqueline, great nephews Hunter and Ty, numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Rod was born in Saskatoon and spent his first four years living on the family farm in Arelee, Sk. In 1960, Seth and Nuddy moved their young family to Selkirk, Manitoba and the next day, Roddy Roger (as he liked to call himself), showed up at the Lewis family home....a place he would visit often for the next 50 years. After graduating high school in Selkirk, Rod spent the next two years working in Winnipeg as a graphic artist apprentice. The pay was not enough to buy that new car, so he began working for the Manitoba Rolling Mills. Three years later Rod heard the call of the Alberta oil fields, packed his duffel bag and made his way to Red Deer. Shortly after his arrival he met his wife Sue and toddle sons Jason and Aaron. Rod and Sue raised their family in Red Deer and remained there for 28 years. After Sue's untimely death Rod made his way back to the Selkirk family home to assist with the care of our Mom Nuddy. For 28 years Rod worked the Service Rigs of Alberta. He started at the bottom as roughneck, moving through the ranks as derrickhand, driller and finally Rig Manager. In the late 90's the Russian oil fields were looking for Rig Managers and Rod was asked to travel to Siberia and oversee a Russian crew. He made three trips and enjoyed every minute of it. Rod had a certain magic with people and although his Russian crew spoke no English, those Russian boys would have laid down their lives for Rod. Rod lived life to the fullest, loved a good joke, loved to tease and most importantly was always ready to lend a helping hand to a friend. He was a gifted golfer and a very talented sketch artist and enjoyed sketching his own greeting cards. Rod will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal...Love leaves a memory no one can steal . Cremation has taken place and to honour Rod's wishes, a private family gathering will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: The CHAMPS Program-Key Tag #467472668, #1 Maybrook Drive, Scarborough, Ontario M1V 5K9 (Champs Child Amputees).
