EVELYN LOIS KENNEDY The Sweetest Girl This Side of Heaven Lois Kennedy passed into the presence of her Lord on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Kin Place Personal Care Home at the age of 81 years. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Mara Kennedy; her brother Harry Scott; and her sister-in law Mary Kennedy. She is survived by her beloved husband Ralph; children, Scott (Sharon), Daryl, Shawn (Joanne) and Craig; by her grandchildren, Ryan, Adam and Micah Kennedy, Robert and Jonathan Kennedy, Meaghan West (Chris), Rebecca Kennedy and Melissa and Hunter Kennedy and her siblings and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Lois was born in Griswold, Manitoba on June 17, 1929 and attended Gordon Bell High School in Winnipeg, where she was an honour student. She married Ralph in Victoria, BC in 1948 following which they came to live in Winnipeg. In 1961 the family moved to the RM of Springfield where they have lived ever since. Lois became a seriously committed Christian in 1968, and served Jesus fervently. Next to the Lord, her family was first in Lois' life. Her godly character, kindness and generosity of spirit impacted not only her family but others as well, and she has had a profound influence on the lives of many. She served as a Sunday-School teacher and superintendant and led women's Bible Study groups and led many to faith in Christ. In Springfield she started the Heart-Health Program and the Oakbank Beautification Program with Ralph. In 2002 she received the Manitoba Council on Aging Recognition Award for outstanding contribution to seniors in Manitoba. The family would like to extend their deep appreciation to Barbara and Bill Pooles, and Mary-Lou Sellen and Valerie Anderson for their ministry to Lois during her illness, and to the staff of Kin Place Personal Care Home for their care of her. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Monday, September 6, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Oakbank Christian Church, Oakbank Manitoba, with a stand up reception to follow. Flowers are gratefully declined. Contributions, if desired, may be made to Samaritan's Purse in her memory. Well done, good and faithful servant... enter into the joy of your Master.
