Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOUGLAS LOCKHART MCMURRAY 1920 -2010 It is with deep sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of Douglas Lockhart McMurray on August 28, 2010 at the age of 90 years. He will be deeply missed by his daughters Donna (Jack), Linda (Stephen), grandson Kevin (Pam) and great-granddaughters Taylor and Kaiebrie. He also leaves to mourn his passing his sister Ivy and brothers George, Mel (Sherry) and Raymond (Florence) along with numerous nieces and nephews. Dad was predeceased by his wife Edith (2007), brother Syd (1999), Jack (2004) and grandson Cory in 2000. Dad was born March 15, 1920 in Winnipeg. He resided most of his life in Elmwood where he met the love of his life Edith. They were married in 1943 and enjoyed 63 years together. Dad served in the Royal Canadian Navy as a Petty Officer from 1941 1945 much of the time spent in the Atlantic. After the war, he worked at Modern Dairies. He began his career with the Post Office in 1949 where he was employed as a mail porter, letter carrier, postal station manager and finally as a route measurement officer until his retirement in 1984. Douglas enjoyed his home and garden, traveling and most sports. He bowled with the Post Office for over 30 years. Dad enjoyed golfing and also curled and played cribbage with the Fort Rouge seniors. He was a member of the YMCA South Branch and the Every Second Tuesday Breakfast Club. He had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. As per Dad's wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of his Life will be held Monday, September 6, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. The family would like to thank the staff at Deer Lodge Centre Tower 4 for their excellent care and compassion he received during his time spent there.
