GERALD JOSEPH CYR 1936 - 2010 In the early morning hours of September 5, 2010, Gerry left us to join his wife Anne and daughter Audrey. There was never a dull moment in Bannock Town for Gerry's parents, Howard and Angele Cyr, raising Gerry and siblings: Philip, Florence, Larry, Norman, Beatrice, Lloyd, Yolande, Dolores and Joe; Gerry getting into plenty of mischief along the way! He began a lifelong career with Abitibi-Price in the early 1950s and married Anne MacLellan in 1957. Together, they had five children: Barry (Marilyn), Audrey (d. 1960), Denis (Wendy), Ian (Denise) and Brian (Monique). The streets of Pine Falls were never the same with the Cyr boys in action! Ger-Boy' was an avid outdoorsman: hunting, fishing and cutting firewood. At the end of a long day outside he'd sit down to a cold brew or two with good friends like Foz Thomas, Ernie Cyr and many others to cheer on his beloved Chicago Blackhawks and Calgary Stampeders. His greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren: Deanna (Rodney), Erica (Randolph), Colin, Kyle, Cody, Kelsie, Amber, Connor and Nolan. After a stroke in 2001 and Anne's passing in 2003, Gerry's later years were blessed with the arrival of his great-grandchildren, Abbey, Mason and Myles. At the time of his passing he was very much anticipating the birth of his twin great-granddaughters later this year. Pepere, when we think of you we remember eating coonies and fried bologna, truck rides (with you and lots of dogs in the cab too!), and suppers at The Lodge. We hold dear our memories of Bird Lake and thank you for the time we had there. Special thanks to the staff at the Manitou Lodge for the extra care and attention given to Gerry during the last several years. Thank you to the health care aides and nurses at Pine Falls Health Complex for making Gerry comfortable in his last few weeks. A Celebration of Life will be held for Gerald Joseph Cyr on Wednesday (today), September 8, 2010 at the Manitou Lodge, 2 Pine Street, Pine Falls, MB at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sunova Centre Project at the Town of Powerview-Pine Falls office.
