PETER YURKIEW July 26, 1920 - September 3, 2010 Peacefully at Granite Ridge Long Term Care Centre, Stittsville at the age of 90 years. Peter and his wife Selina moved from East St. Paul near Winnipeg to Stittsville in 1998. Peter leaves to cherish his memory his wife Selina; step-daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Robert Dungey of Richmond; grandsons, Kevin, Kyle (Laura) and Darren (Kristina); and great-granddaughters, Paris and Aila. He is also survived by brothers, Mike and Fred; sister Sally, five nieces and two nephews and their families all of Winnipeg. Peter was predeceased by brothers, Bill and John; and sister Ann. As with many of his generation, Peter answered the call of duty, serving overseas during the Second World War with the Westminster Regiment. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Granite Ridge Long Term Care for their respectful care of both Peter and his family on his last journey. At Peter's request, there will be no visitation. The family will hold a private service at a later date.
