EDWARD WILLIAM KOWBEL It is with great sorrow we announce the sudden passing of our father and grandfather, Edward William Kowbel, on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at the age of 79 years. Dad was born January 15, 1931 to Julia and Nicolas Kowbel. He grew up in Melville, Saskatchewan and became a journeyman for CN railways where he worked in the Transcona Shops. In 1962 he married his soul mate Barbara and together they raised a family in East Kildonan. It was a happy home that hosted many dance parties in the rec room along with many other joyful celebrations. In 2009 Dad moved to Sturgeon Creek Retirement Residence 1 where he fully enjoyed every day there. Many many thanks to Mike, Francios, Sherelle and all the staff and friends there. Dad said he was a lucky man to have it so good. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Lorenia (Michael) Luhowy, Kerri (Erin) Deller and grandchildren, Rachael, Raylene and Erik. Dad was predeceased by his wife Barbara; parents, Julia and Nicolas; brothers, John and Joe; and sister Vicki. Dad was a jack of all trades, and had the gizmos to fix any problem that would arise. He was a happy person who had a huge smile for everyone. In his memory hug someone and smile today. Viewing will be held on Thursday, September 9 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held on Friday, September 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, with reception to follow. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
