Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBURTON HUGH GARNER 1934 - 2010 Burton Hugh passed away peacefully at home on September 5, 2010 with his family by his side, at the age of 75 years. Born on November 21, 1934 he lived his entire life in Transcona. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Mildred Garner and grandson Burton Reimer. Burton was married on April 2, 1955 to Joan Lanigan in Transcona. He is survived by his wife Joan, son Glen (Claire), daughters, Lynda (Guy) Kolly and Barbara Garner; grandchildren, Charles (Leslie) Garner, Erin, Samuel, Joey, Steven and Sarah Garner and Jacqueline Reimer; great-grandchildren, Landon and Daniel Garner; sister Gail (Ed) Delisle and many nieces, nephews and their families. Burton loved the outdoors, in particular his cottage at Rice Lake, Ontario where he helped his mother and father build the family cottage starting at age seven. It was here that he loved to be with his family and friends and spent many happy hours exploring, hiking, canoeing, fishing and water skiing. He has passed on his love of nature to each one of his children and grandchildren. He began his 39 year career at the CNR Transcona as a Call Boy, retiring in 1989 as a Car Foreman in the Repair Shop. The family wishes to thank Dr. Steven Mink, Respirologist, Bob Wareing, Pharmacist, Katie DeLeon-Demare, at Access Transcona, Richard and the Palliative Care Team for their care and support through Burton's long battle with COPD; also Rev. Jeff Cook for his spiritual support. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Ave. West on Thursday September 9, 2010 with Rev. Jeff Cook officiating. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish donations may be made to the Lung Association, Manitoba or a charity of one's choice.
