J. RICHARD (DICK) McCULLOUGH On September 4, 2010 and surrounded by his family, Richard (Dick) McCullough passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 52 years, Elsie (Warren) McCullough, daughter Betty-Ann (Eric) Luoto, Michael and Amanda, son Glenn (Chantale Hardy), and daughter Brenda (Dennis Chung) Matthew and Emily, sister-in-law Laurine Anderson, nieces Valerie, Cindy and Judy. Predeceased by his father Clifford McCullough, mother Esther Terrell, brother baby McCullough died at birth 1939 and step brothers Melvin and Clifford Anderson. Richard was born on April 6, 1936 in Carman, Manitoba and moved to Winnipeg in 1957 to work at Manitoba Telephone System and retired after 37 years. He enjoyed watching and participating in activities with his children and grandchildren. Richard was deeply involved with hockey through Bord-Aire Community Centre, AA AAA Hockey, starting in 1973 up to 2000 as a Manager of various hockey teams and was a convenor for AA Bantam Hockey from 2000 to 2002, and a AAA Bantam Director from 2002 to 2003. He was also President of Bord-Aire Community Centre in 1979/80 and 1982/83. Richard was very involved in bowling at Village Inn, St. James Lanes and Polo Park Bowling Alleys. He was an affiliate member at St. James Legion #4 from 2000 to 2010. Richard also enjoyed 20 years out at his park like property in St. Malo, Manitoba. We all remember Richard in our own special way and will hold him dear to our hearts. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Boniface and Grace Hospitals for their excellent care and compassion. Also a very special thank you to Dr. Harris and her excellent staff at Grace CancerCare. In lieu of flowers, the family please asks for donations to be made in memory of Richard to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, Inc., 1160-675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. In keeping with Richard's wishes, cremation will take place. A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with a reception to follow. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
