MARY JOSEPHINE FEDORUK previously FISCHER (nee O'MAHONEY) It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Mary Fedoruk on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at the Misericordia Health Centre Personal Care Home, at the age of 85. Mary leaves to mourn her husband Bill, three daughters, Pat MacPhail (Ross), Judi Bourgouin (Brian), and Marilyn Nash (Robert), six grandchildren, and 10 precious great-grandchildren, three sisters, Carmel, Jocelyn and Vanessa, two brothers Dermot and Hayden, all of whom reside in England. Mary was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Anne O'Mahoney and five brothers. Mary was born in Belfast, Ireland, one of 11 children, on September 6, 1925. The family later moved to England and she grew up there. She married Harvey Fischer in England and emigrated to Canada to live in Winnipeg. She worked at Eatons for a time and was also a dance instructor at Arthur Murray Dance Studios. She later married Bill Fedoruk and together they owned and operated the Monterey Dance Gardens in Headingley. Mary and Bill loved to travel and were fortunate to be able to take many holidays together. Due to ill health, it was necessary for Mary to take up residence at Misericordia Health Centre last year. The family wishes to thank all the caring staff at Misericordia Health Centre, Cornish 5 North for looking after Mary so well. She grew to love them as though they were part of her family. A memorial service celebrating Mary's life will be held at Lion's Place, 610 Portage Avenue in the Auditorium on the 2nd floor on Saturday, September 11th at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow. If friends so desire, memorial donations to Misericordia Health Centre Foundation would be greatly appreciated, or to a charity of your choice. May the road rise to meet you May the wind be always at your back May the sun shine warm upon your face, The rains fall soft upon your fields, And, until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of your hand.
