JOSEPH (JOE) AUGUST COOK January 19, 1920 September 08, 2010 With deep sorrow, the family announces the passing of Joe on September 08, after a brief illness. Joe was predeceased by Hedy, his wife of 62 years, in 2007 and his siblings Ernie, Bill, and Gert. He is survived by his daughters: Linda Cook, Barb Fries (Garry), Darlene Ziolkoski; grandchildren Trevor, Trent, Brittany, Kolby; son-in-law Aarron. Joe was born in Winnipeg and served in the Navy during the Second World War and upon his return married Hedy. A carpenter by trade, Joe had his own business (Kit Kraft Cabinets Builders) specializing in cottages. His love of the outdoors, led him to be a Scout leader for 16 years at St. Gerard Parish. Dad will be remembered for his great love of family and his special connection with his grandchildren. The things he cherished most were family gatherings, gardening, and bargain hunting. Sincere thanks to the staff at Riverview. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood, officiated by Fr. Fred Olds on Monday, September 13, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow in Parish hall. Family interment at Elmwood Cemetery to follow. In lieu of flowers we ask that you make a donation in Joe's memory to L' Arche Winnipeg Inc., 118 Regent Ave. W., or the charity of your choice. Thanks Dad, you done good!
