JOY (PATRICIA) MACPHAIL (nee BLAKE) It is with profound sadness our family announces the passing of our cherished mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Joy MacPhail on September 7, 2010 at the Concordia Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Joy was predeceased by her husband of 55 years Malcolm (Scotty) MacPhail, her sister Peggy Templeman and brother Robin Blake. She leaves to mourn her devoted children Callum, Lynne Millar (Rick), and Duncan. Her grandchildren Ryan MacPhail (Glenda), Krysta MacPhail, Brevvon MacPhail and Shayne MacPhail, great-grandchildren Brenden and Paisley MacPhail. Her sister Doreen Tomczak of Downey, California, many nieces and nephews that she loved along with her very special friends, who are extended family, Muriel Davies, who was always there for her, Joe Bernard and Gail McKay. Joy was born on October 2, 1933 in Bournemouth, England and with her family, moved to Transcona in October of 1948. Mom spent most of her time being a devoted wife and mother. Her legacy of love will live on in our hearts forever. Nothing was more important to Mom than her children - their happiness and well being. Mom enjoyed being a member of the St. Georges Anglican Church, of Transcona, choir. She was acknowledged in October of 1998 in gratitude for her 50 years of dedicated service and at one time was very proud to have three generations in the choir, with her father Bill Blake and her daughter Lynne. Mom along with Dad delivered Meals on Wheels for over 15 years, retiring in 2009. They took great pride in this service and helping the community. Throughout Mom's illness we have many people to thank, starting with Dr. Peter Tomy and his staff. Her respiratory specialist Dr. Homick. Regent Park Pharmacy Jack O'Neil and his staff for over 50 years of excellent service and genuine care of Mom's requirements. Todd of Rana Respiratory Care Group for his service above and beyond any expectations and Victoria Lifeline. Mom's home care aid, Donna Atkinson, who Mom felt was not just an aid provided by the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, but a very special addition to her home and her daily routine. Also all staff Concordia Hospital 3E Respiratory Care for their utmost professionalism, extended care and genuine concern, for not just Mom, but also the family. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at 2:00 p.m, at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day Street. Reverend Helen Manfield of St. George's Anglican Church officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Ryan, Brevvon and Shayne MacPhail, son-in-law Rick Millar and family friends Bud Grant and Joe Bernard. Interment to follow at the Transcona Cemetery. If friends so desire donations may be made in Mom's memory to the Manitoba Lung Association, Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, CancerCare Manitoba, The Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of one's choice. If tears could build a stairway, And memories a lane, We'd walk right up to Heaven And bring you back again..... Mom, you are now reunited with Dad We have peace in our hearts.
