HORST HERBERT (HERB) TSCHUNCKY
Date of Passing: Aug 21, 2010
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHORST HERBERT (HERB) TSCHUNCKY Herb left us on August 21, 2010 with the same quiet grace he had lived his life. During his last month at the Pine Falls Hospital, family and friends had the privilege of visiting him, rewarded with his peaceful smiles. Thank you to the amazing staff who supported Herbert and his family during this time. Born, Horst (meaning man of the forest') in 1930 in Saarbruken, Germany, Herbert lived in France and Switzerland where he married Elizabeth and had two children, Janine and Ralph. They relocated to Canada, Herb worked in Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia. But it was Bissett, where he stayed. Working as a machinist at the San Antonio Gold Mine, he made his own teeth from steel. Elizabeth passed away after an extended illness. He was introduced to his second wife Muriel while visiting Morris. Whether he was rescuing a bear cub, caring for a skunk or holding a family of bumble bees in his hand, Herb did it with a confidence and certainty that could inspire. He enjoyed cooking, picking mushrooms and the company of people of all ages. Herb made friends in Hollow Water and surrounding communities. He enjoyed summer visits with cottagers and the leaders of Outward Bound USA. Herb was a natural comedian staring in the film Incident at Pickerel Fillet (see it on U-tube and T.V.) Honoured and fortunate to have shared Herbert's life are numerous friends and family, wife Muriel; daughter Janine (George); son Ralph (Ruth), grandchildren, Kristen, Carly, Lindsay; and great-grandson Noah; step-daughter Susan (Bob), grandchildren, Zachary, Maximus and Gabrielle; and sister Anneliese in Germany. Herbert's ashes will be scattered in the Boreal forest he loved. If you wish to honour Herb's memory, spend time in the outdoors or make a donation to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
