Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMYRTLE MONDOR (nee BEATON) 1925 - 2010 Myrtle Mondor (nee Beaton) passed away peacefully at the age of 85 years, on Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at the Victoria General Hospital, Winnipeg. She is joining Jack, her husband of 64 years, who passed away on September 27, 2009. Myrtle was born on January 27, 1925 in St. Andrew's, Manitoba to Alma Grace (nee Cromartie) and William Beaton, the eighth of 11 children. Her memory will be cherished by her daughter Linda and son-in-law Bohdan Chreptyk; her grandchildren, Tara, Ryan and Brittany; and her son Victor and daughter-in-law Donna (Schmidt). She is survived by her sisters, Beatrice (Leigh), Georgina (Wasio), Geraldine (Moodie); and sister-in-law Constance (Mayes) of Nanaimo, BC. Myrtle had many fond memories of her large extended family, which included her many nieces, nephews and in-laws. Myrtle was predeceased by her mother Grace in 1969; her father William in 1947; brothers, Clarence in 1970, Clifford in 1977, Wilfred in 1999 and George in 1999. Also, her sisters, Grace (Michelson) in 1984, Alma (Reid) in 2002 and Edith (Greening) in 2009. Myrtle grew up in Parkdale, Manitoba and attended St. Andrew's School. Later she worked in Winnipeg at Winsome Dress. She married Jack on September 29, 1945 at Old St. Andrew's Church on the Red. They resided in St. James until 1955 when they moved to their home in St. Vital. Over the years she worked with Jack for a time at Perth's, the Metropolitan Store and at the Bay as a sales clerk. Myrtle retired from the Bay and had many pleasant years of retirement. Over the years, Myrtle joined curling and bowling teams with Jack and her family. She bowled twice a week until the end of the season this year. Two of her greatest hobbies were sewing and ceramics. Her creations always had something extra. She loved to travel and was able to see some of the world her lifetime. The family would like to thank Dr. R. Hayward, for his excellent care of Myrtle over the years. Thanks to Home Care and the staff at Victoria General Hospital for their compassionate care over the last few months. Cremation has already taken place. The family would like to invite family and friends to attend an informal celebration of Myrtle's life on Monday, September 13, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the reception room at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., south of the Royal Canadian Mint. Interment will follow in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens for Jack and Myrtle.
