Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCECILE LAMOND (nee PAILLE) 1911 - 2010 On September 9, 2010, Cecile Lamond passed away peacefully at Extendicare Oakview Place. Beloved wife of the late Robert Lamond and mother of Barbara (Robert) Hausegger of Calgary, son Robert of Bryan, Texas and Beatrice (Doug) McIlraith of Winnipeg. Cecile had lived to within six months of her own Centennial. Born Marie Louise Cecile Paille in St. Charles, Manitoba, on February 18 of l911, her early years had been spent in Delmas, Saskatchewan, then St. Norbert in Manitoba, where she and her sisters ran the local Post Office (after their mother's passing), while father, Neree, scouted for work where he could find it. She married Robert Lamond in 1931 in Winnipeg, where the pair raised a family through the Depression years, counting every penny but never hungry. Post-war years of relative affluence provided a house of their own which remained home until Robert's death in 1960. Cecile undertook a new life, taking work as a bookkeeper for a small local firm, and making her home in apartment blocks near her former home. She remained in her own apartment to the age of 98, making her own meals, even doing her own laundry, with daily contact from loyal daughter Bea but dependent only on a walker - which held her laundry and provided a seat while she waited. Cecile was hospitalized briefly in 2009, then resided with Bea and Doug until she moved into Oakview in April of 2010. Cecile was a devoted member of Harrow United Church since 1942, belonging to the Woman's Auxiliary. Cecile is survived by her two daughters and her son, 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by three sisters, Antoinette, Bernadette and Adele; and three brothers, Joseph, Clovis and Philippe. A loving Mother, Gram and Nana has earned Eternal Rest. Our grateful thanks to the caring staff on 3 North Wing at Oakview Place. A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
