RAYMOND FRANK ROSS It is with peaceful hearts that we announce the passing of Raymond Frank Ross on Thursday, September 9, 2010. We can gladly say he has gone home to be with his Saviour Jesus Christ. Raymond will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his ex-wife and friend, Grace Anderson; his sons, Frank (Doris), Ian (Zsanett), Lester (Shelly); daughter Renata and daughter-in-law Kimberly; grandchildren, Shannon, Vanessa, Charles, Jessica, Brittany, Max, Gregory, Julian, Julia; great-grandchildren, Linden, Kristian, Jacob, Zemera, Liberty, Kiera, Raquelle, Shannel and many others who knew him as Papa Ross. His will also be dearly missed by his brother Albert (Denise) Ross of Winnipeg and sister-in-law Beverly Ross of Victoria, BC. He was predeceased by parents Frank and Maria Ross; brothers, Robert, Alex, Burnell and Arnold; sisters, Ann, Mary, Victoria and his son, Gregory. Raymond was born in Kinosota, MB. He moved away at an early age and pursued a teaching career. He taught in several communities, most notably in Little Black River for 10 years. In his career he was also employed by the Manitoba Indian Brotherhood, the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs, Manitoba Indian Agriculture Program and the Manitoba Indian Education Association. After his professional retirement, Raymond worked at Linwood School and Quintons. Raymond was also actively involved as a volunteer. He was an active member of the Manitoba Metis Federation, Kinew Housing, a founder of Native Effort for Talent and participated with many other organizations. He was a very creative man, always involved with handicrafts, horticulture, storytelling, singing and playing music. Raymond was a born again Christian from an early age. He touched many people of all ages with his love and kindness. He also had a great sense of humour. We want to thank Golden West Centennial Lodge and Grace Hospital staff for their compassionate care. We also thank the Chief and Council of Fairford for all their assistance as well as everyone else who helped us through this time. The wake and the funeral services will be held at the Fairford House of Prayer. Wake Service will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 14, 2010. Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 with Reverend Donald Gould officiating. Interment will follow at St. Helen's Anglican Church Cemetery.
