Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSE ANGELA LEONARD (nee CHURKO) On Friday, September 3, 2010 at St. Michael's Hospice, Burnaby, aged 82. Beloved wife of Barry Leonard. Rose was born in Rossdale, just North of Winnipeg in 1928, the 7th and last child of Sophia and Joseph Churko. Beside her husband of 57 years, she will be missed by her brother, Charles, 96, and his wife Anne, 97, of Winnipeg, sons, Steven and Cory, of Metro Vancouver, and daughter, Ronna-Rae of Courtenay, British Columbia, grandchildren Chelsea, Stefanie, Ryan, and Rihana, and children by marriage Ron Eby, Mariana Bralic, and Inder Leonard, brother-in-law Bob Leonard, and many nieces and nephews, godchildren, cousins, friends and neighbours. Her family was as big as her heart. Rose was trained at Selkirk Hospital as a Psychiatric Nurse, and also taught school in 1945-1946 in Gimli and later in the 60s in Harding and CFB Rivers, Manitoba. As a military wife, she made lifelong friends the world over. Retired in Burnaby, BC in 1976, friendships continued to grow through her church life, Cursillo, and Order of St. Luke's, hospice volunteering, learning sign language and many other personal endeavours. On Saturday, September 18, a Celebration of Life and Eucharist will be held at 11:00 a.m. with refreshments following at All Saints Anglican Church, 7405 Royal Oak Ave. in Burnaby. In lieu of flowers, Rose wished you to consider a donation to a charity of your choice.
