Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHENRY GERVAIS After a courageous battle with lung cancer Henry passed away at the Grace Hospital on September 10, 2010 at the age of 89 years. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Vivian (nee Roberts), his four sons: Richard (Cathy), David, Robert (Barb) and Dennis, four grandchildren Neil, Brina, Matthew and Nicholas. He was predeceased by his parents Raoul and Delima Gervais, his brothers, Richard, Arthur and Roland. He is survived by his sister Thérèse Dunlop, numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews and their families. Henry was born in St. Jean-Baptiste, Manitoba on March 25, 1921. At an early age his family moved to St. Boniface where Henry resided for the remainder of his life. He worked at CN Rail for well over 35 years and retired in 1986. Most of those years were spent in the Transcona Shops stores department. Henry was a gentle man who valued his independence. He had a soft spot for animals and kept the neighbourhood birds, squirrels and rabbits well fed. Henry had a keen interest in current news events. He always had a story at the ready and enjoyed talking with everybody he'd meet. After retiring he was always busy outside, shovelling snow, cutting grass, pulling weeds, etc. When his yard was finished he'd move on to the neighbouring yards and do likewise. In his younger days he was good with tools and did most of his own home renovations. Attending Mass on Sunday mornings was a lifelong commitment for Henry. The family would like to thank the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit for their dedication and support. Also a big thank you to the nurses on 2 South at the Grace Hospital for taking good care of Henry in his final days. In keeping with Henry's wishes cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 16 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, 252 Dubuc St. Interment to follow at St. Boniface Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of one's choice. Rest well Henry. We'll all be together real soon. See you then. DESJARDINS 233-4949 1-888-233-4949
