Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN (JACK) KNOWLES It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of John (Jack) Knowles on September 12, 2010 at the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg at the age of 90 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his sister Ruth, brother-in-law Jack and numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was born in Souris, Manitoba and later moved to Winnipeg. He met Pat in 1946 and they were married on June 25, 1949. Jack was a devoted husband and they spent many happy years together. Jack worked at Marshall Wells for over 40 years retiring in 1984. He had a variety of interests and hobbies that kept him busy after his retirement. He enjoyed reading and following his favourite sports teams. He also gave of himself volunteering his time wherever needed. The summer months were spent tending the flower and vegetable garden in the backyard. The abundant harvests were gladly shared with anyone in need. He was a longtime member of the West Kildonan Legion and the Winnipeg Gladiolus and Dahlia Society. Jack was a generous, caring person and a true gentleman. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. The family would like to thank the amazing staff at B1 Middlechurch Home for their compassion, support and loving care extended to Jack during his time there. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, 280 Balderstone Road, West St. Paul, MB R4A 4A6 or to a charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place. Graveside / Memorial Service to be held on Friday, September 17, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. Family and friends to meet at Glen Eden Funeral Home at 1:45 p.m. In case of inclement weather the service will take place in the Glen Eden Reception Centre. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111
