Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOMENICO MILITANO February 20, 1922- September 11, 2010 Domenico Militano passed away Saturday, September 11, 2010 after a brief illness at Victoria General Hospital surrounded by his four children, Carmelo, Tony, Rosa and Pina. Domenico is survived by his brother Rocco Militano and his wife Alfonsnia of Sant' Eufemia d'Aspromonte, Italy; his brothers-in-law: Cosmo Nocidia and Domenica; Frank Foti and Antonella; Rocco Foti and Melina; Angelo Foti and Olga; sisters-in-law: Nancy Militano, Lina Militano, Domenica Militano and Shirley Militano; his two daughters-in-law: Vera and Kellie; his sons-in-law: Tahmaseb Mehrabian and John DiLallo; his grandchildren: Adrianna, Domenic, Dariush, Matthew, Parisa, Marcus and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. His wife Carmela Militano (Foti), Giovanni Militano, Carmine Militano, Antonio Militano, Rocco and Rosinia Luppino, Michael Zirino and Angela (Militano) and Giuseppe Militano, predeceased him. Domenico was born in the village of Acquaro, province of Reggio di Calabria, Italy. He came to Canada in the early 1950s shortly after marrying Carmela to begin a new life. He immediately found work with the railway and for the next 35 years worked for the CNR as part of an extra-gang crew, a section-man at both the East Yard and Symington Yard and as a machine operator. He also served for more than 20 years as shop steward for the section men of Symington Yard. Domenico was an active man and embraced people and life head on. He loved to debate about the issues of the day as much as he loved to be involved. He worked for many years as a volunteer in the Italian community and was very proud of his membership and activity with the local chapter of the Knights of Columbus. His other great passions were gardening and hunting; every spring found him eagerly waiting to see his tomato seedlings sprout and every fall for over 20 years he avidly went duck and deer hunting. However, it was his love of family that was his true grand passion. Domenico was a family man and loved his children and grandchildren and took great delight in spending time with them. Domenico was a man of energy and passion and proud of his family and his humble Italian origins. He will be sadly missed by all. Prayers will be held Wednesday, September 15 at 7:30 p.m. in Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, September 16 at 10:00 a.m. also in Holy Rosary Church. Entombment will follow in Assumption Chapel Mausoleum, Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E. J. COUTU CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 680 Archibald St. 253-5086

Dear Pina and family Please accept my condolences on the loss of your father. I have been talking to Allison, and she was describing how much you contributed to his being able to be at home until his final days. Bravo!! Marjorie and I always remembered the wonderful and hectic atmosphere at your family home the night before and morning of your wedding. It was truly a family and community event. Love and prayers for you and all your family. - Posted by: Brian Trenholm (Friend) on: Sep 16, 2010
