ROBERT (JACK) JACKSON HEMBROFF Peacefully on Wednesday, September 8, 2010, Jack died at Heritage Lodge Personal Care Home at the age of 89. Remaining to forever cherish Jack's memory are his daughter Diane (Bill) Wright; son Jim (Carla); special friend Else Madsen; two brothers, Walt (Gert), Bill (Agnes) of Saskatoon, SK; two sisters-in-law, Emma Hopkins and Alice Senkbeil of Pipestone, MB. Jack was blessed with seven grandchildren, nine great-grand-children and one great-great-granddaughter, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Ida; son Les; daughter-in-law Betty; sisters, May Hart, Olive Nelson, Matti Setter, Ag Henuset; brothers, Tom and Lloyd. Jack was born and raised in Russell, MB and got a job as a power lineman as a young man. He met his wife Ida Henuset at a dance while stationed in Pipestone, MB. Jack and Ida were married in 1945 and resided in Winnipeg from the early 1950s where they raised their three children. He continued working for Winnipeg Hydro as a power lineman and later switched to the trouble truck. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and had a special passion for gardening which provided many stories, and tomatoes, to his family and friends over the years. Jack and Ida spent many winters in Weslaco, Texas where they made many friends and continued to enjoy their love of gardening together. In later years, after the passing of his wife, Jack was fortunate enough to find a friend and companion in Else. On Friday, September 17 at 1:00 p.m. Jack's funeral service will be held in the Silver Heights United Church, 199 Garrioch Avenue (corner of Mount Royal Road and Ness Avenue), with Rev. Don Johnson, presider. Interment will take place on Saturday, September 18 at 1:00 p.m. in the Pipestone Cemetery, Pipestone, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
