RICHARD GREGORY ROSS September 23, 1959 - September 13, 2010 After a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, on September 13, 2010 with family by his side, he quietly passed. He was predeceased by parents Wilmer (1971) and Madeline (1975), brothers Lenny (1987) and Doug (1999), and nephew Jay (1995). He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his brothers Jim (Marilyn) and Paul, sister Patricia (Darren), sister-in-law Donna, lifelong companion Heather Mulvaney and papa to Jazmen, Dylan, Curtis, daughter Shannon Mulvaney and granddaughter Briana and Tristan and papa to Noah and Phoenix along with nieces and nephews Shannon, Lenny, Jenny, Sharlene and Bradley as well as great-nephew Christian. Rick was born in Winnipeg where he attended Lord Nelson School and Churchill High School. Rick worked for many years at the Riverview Health Centre before moving on to work at the Kirkfield Hotel. He then had a career in trucking, working for M.E.L. and Haul Rite until he became too ill to continue working. Rick was a fixture at the Ft. Rouge Legion for many years and will be known for his outgoing character and was affectionately referred to as Rambo by many of his friends. Rick was always proud of the fact he achieved sobriety in 2002 and dedicated all his time and efforts to his children. He loved nothing more than spending time with others, having family BBQ's, going to the beach, taking the boys fishing or going for a leisurely drive in the country. He was very proud of all the achievements of his children and always gave them encouragement and recognition. The family respectfully requests in lieu of flowers you may make a donation to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or to a charity of one's choice. The family would like to thank all the staff at Palliative Care in St. Boniface Hospital for the exceptional care and kindness provided to Richard. Rick explicitly wanted to share with staff his gratitude for your care and compassion. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 17, 2010 at Thomson Funeral Home.
