GERALD FITZMAURICE On Tuesday, September 14, 2010, with his family by his side Gerry Fitzmaurice peacefully passed away at the age of 76. He was surrounded by the laughs and love of his many children and grandchildren throughout his final days. He was predeceased by his wife Pauline in 1988 and is survived by his special friend Susan Savoie, children: Jackie (Bob Ermet), Paulette (Glen Gratton), Ken (Michelle), Guy, Dennis (Karen) and Kathy (Michel Delaquis). He was affectionately known as Papa to his 13 loving grandchildren and his five beautiful great-grandchildren. Gerry grew up in a large family and is survived by his twin sister Joan (Bill Nadurak), sisters, Aggie, Cecile, Marie, Rita (Charlie Lodge) and his brother Leo along with many special nieces and nephews. Gerry was a very hard working husband and father. He worked two jobs at times however, he made his career at Canada Cement from 1955 to 1965 and Inland Cement from 1965 to 1993. During this time he made many life long friends. His home (and fridge) was always open to family and friends. His fishing boat was often on loan to the eager fisherman in his family. He taught them that in the Fitz clan the size of the fish caught was never as important as the tall tale that followed. Gerry had a truly loving and caring nature as well as an incredible sense of humour. This amazing gift was passed on to his entire family and helped carry them through his final days. Cremation has taken place and a memorial mass will be held on Saturday, September 18 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Road. If friends so desire, a donation can be made to the Human Resource Fund of St. Bernadette Parish or to a charity of one's choice. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 680 Archibald St. 253-5086
