ELVA MURIEL SCOTT It is with great sadness that the family of Elva Muriel Scott announces her passing on Monday, September 13, 2010, at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg, at the age of 92 years. Elva was born in Minto, Manitoba on April 13, 1918, the youngest of six children. She married Alexander James Scott on December 25, 1941, and they moved to Winnipeg, taking up residence on Greene Avenue in East Kildonan. In 2008, Mom moved from the family home to The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg where she lived until her passing. The Convalescent Home holds a very special place in the hearts of Elva's family. We are indebted to the staff for their kind, compassionate, and respectful care of Mom over these past two years... our heartfelt thanks. Elva delighted in family life; her family and her home were her central focus. In the broader sense, Mom enjoyed spending time with friends, gardening, inside and out, and simply being a part of a close knit neighbourhood. She was a long-time member of John Black United Church and found strength for life's challenges in her faith and the fellowship of her church family. Mom will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by her children Gail (Don) Craig, Jack (Abby) Scott and Barb (Bob) Freed; her grandchildren Ian Craig, Colleen (Don) Adam, Jason (Cheryl) Scott, Devin (Christy) Scott, Michael, Darren and Kelly Rafferty; her great-grandchildren, Joshua and Caitlyn Adam, Cameryn and Caelan Scott, Sieben and Cleo Scott, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends. Elva was predeceased by her husband, Alex; brothers, Alfred, Kenny, and Tom Sprott, all of Minto; and sisters, Beth Sprott of Minto and Margaret Erven of Thunder Bay. With respect to Elva's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Monday, September 20, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at John Black Memorial United Church, 898 Henderson Highway, Heather Sandilands officiating and fellowship to follow. A private interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations in Elva's memory may be made to the John Black Memorial United Church Foundation or a charity of choice. Dance, dance, wherever you may be I am the lord of the dance, said he And I lead you all, wherever you may be And I lead you all in the dance, said he From I danced in the morning Voices United #352 Chapel Lawn 885-9715
