Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTANLEY SZMERSKI It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stanley Szmerski, aged 80, on September 8, 2010. Stan was born in Poland, on October 28, 1929. In 1931 he immigrated to Canada and settled in the Lac du Bonnet area. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Rosalie; son Lorne (Patsy); and daughters, Shelly (Mitchell) and Colleen (Arthur); grandchildren, Jaime (Derek), Clayton (Nicole), Jonathan (Shallyn), Garrett, Lacie and Erik; and precious great-grandchildren, Rylan, Kailyn and Ryder. Stan was predeceased by his parents, Ignatius and Mary; sisters, Myroslava, Anne (Hynds); and brothers, Joseph, Walter and Paul. He is survived by his brother Teddy (Linda). He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Mayme Hirst, Myrtle Helgason, Hazel Pohl (Bob), Beatrice Holm (Allan), Marlene Rollins, Blythe Hirst, Laurel Torgerson, Joanne Hirst and Joan Hirst. Stan also had numerous nieces and nephews who were so special to him. Dad's favourite pastime was fishing and catching minnows. In light of all that has happened, we are grateful that Dad left this life doing what he loved most. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all who assisted in helping to bring Dad home. Your time and efforts were so appreciated. There are no words that can thank you enough. We would also like to thank the many family and friends who visited and supported us through the past week. Dad would have been truly grateful for all of you. Following Dad's wishes, he will be cremated. A private memorial service was held on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at his homestead, which was purchased (not inherited as previously printed) by his son Lorne. The Fisherman's Prayer I pray the Lord my soul to keep While fishing out here in the deep. And may you grant my fondest wish And help me land a giant fish. My friends say I exaggerate My fish's width and height and weight. So please forgive me if I brag About the size of those I snag. If I should die before I wake, I pray that Heaven has a lake. I need no halos, things like that, If you'll just let me wear my hat. SOBERING FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM, Beausejour 268-3510 or MB Toll Free 1-877-776-2220
